The Archive CD Books Project exists to make reproductions of old books, documents and maps available on CD to genealogists and historians, and to co-operate with libraries, museums and record offices in providing money to renovate old books in their collection, and to donate books to their collections, where they will be preserved for future generations.

It gives us a lot of pleasure to make these old and rare books, etc. available to historians and those interested in researching their family history.

The Project is all about making CDs of old and rare books available to genealogists and historians at a reasonable price. It is a "user supported" project, and is not intended to make an excessive profit at the user’s expense.

Some of these books have been kindly lent to the project by various individuals, some from County Record Offices, museums, family history societies and libraries, and some which I have purchased. All of them are old and rare. Many of those books purchased from book dealers (no matter how expensive they were) are subsequently given away to one of the above organizations. The Archive CD Books Project also pays for the renovation of books loaned to us by record offices, museums and libraries, so that they may be preserved for future generations. We are also able to give CDs to local libraries and record offices so that the books no longer suffer from heavy use.

We all gain
The Record Offices gain
The Local Studies Libraries gain
The Museums gain
The Family History Societies gain
Book dealers gain

We, the genealogists and historians gain access to these old and rare primary sources of data in their original form. -No-one loses, everyone gains. -

This is really very much a "labor of love" and the price of the CDs is kept as low as possible to reflect that.

However, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't do things in the best possible way, and by using the very latest technology. That's why we selected the Bookeye Scanner from Imageware. If a job is worth doing, then let's do it well. The Bookeye is perfect in every way for the task.
