When we were starting up this branch we knew we would like to run a sponsorship scheme so you could help us but didn't want to make it just a request for financial resources. Finally it dawned on us that many of you had wonderful old books that you had collected because of your interest in family history research and that you would be happy, even anxious, to share them if you could do so without risking harm to your book. Well, obviously we are in an ideal position to help you to do that, and we can make your reward for sharing your books a little more tangible that just the good feeling that comes from generosity. If we agree with you that your book(s) would be useful to other Canadian researchers we will give you an immediate reward when we have scanned the book and make you a lifetime Canadian Sponsor which will entitle you to a 15% discount on ALL your CD Books purchases through the Canadian site.

Remember, each partner may be operating his own sponsorship program so our sponsorship discount applies ONLY through the Canadian site. This is not something peculiar to us here in Canada. As a result of internationalizing The Project, it only makes sense that each branch use the sponsorship it receives to promote the activities within its own national boundaries. This means that the separate sponsorship schemes can only apply within the branch you are sponsoring.

Your sponsorship of the Canadian branch of Archive CD Books is intended to help others researching their family history here in Canada, or having an interest in Canadian history and heritage. That’s not to say that we don’t all have some interests in what we nickname “neutral” topics – these often include books about areas of the world where there is no Archive CD Books branch – yet. There are also some “Lifestyle” topics like craftsmanship manuals, mail order catalogues, fashion books and the like, which are essentially nationality independent, and we all keep an eye open for - and will publish - these if we think they will help other researchers.
But our primary objective is to provide books which are Canadian. We prefer they be written by Canadians, about Canada, and published right here in Canada. If you think your book(s) meet these criteria, and you want to participate in our sponsorship scheme then send us an e-mail to Books@ArchiveCDBooks.ca and tell us the title, author, and the publication date of your copy of the book(s). If you want to tell us a little of what you find valuable about them that would help too.
When we receive your e-mail we will do some research on the book(s) to see if we agree on the value of republishing, and to make sure we can do so legally. We will then contact you, tell you what we found out and start to make arrangements to borrow the book if we agree it's a good candidate for copying.
Once we start on reproducing a book it normally takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete the process but it may be a while before we can fit your book into our scanning schedule. We'll discuss all this with you at the time. Once we have completed the reproduction we'll get your book(s) safely back to you together with two copies of it on CD and a complimentary choice of any of our other Canadian CDs as a thank you gift. At that point you are also enrolled as a lifetime sponsor of Archive CD Books Canada and are entitled to your 15% discount on ANY book in our catalogue.
